script for selecting printer

Can anyone suggest a source where I might find (or write one for me) a script
that selects a printer when a few different printers are available. I have an
application in use in an office network and printers are located in different
parts of the office. It will become necessary to print to different printers
depending on the job. I wish to limit access by the staff o the Chooser and
the Finder etc.
