I think the idea is that loading scripting extensions took a lot of time
under 10.0.X, and therefore a design decision was taken to not add more
bounces to the app launch sequence.
Maybe now with 10.1 being quicker to load code, this decision will be rued,
somewhat at least, as the lack of extension code within app contexts also
forces extension behaviour to occur in the system context - a complete pain
in the Ar_e for getting basic functionality like display dialog to work
smoothly.
I advise everyone who would like to be able to have users call extension
handlers within their app context to make this need known, and let the Apple
developers figure out how to best meet this need.
