destop + drive order

I have a raid of drives on my desktop and instead of the Mac organizing
them by drive letter it organizes it by the size of the drive. Is there any
way to have the drive letters come up in alphabetical order.

A01 to A08
B01 to B04
C01 to C04

16 drives in total

mac 0S 9

any help would be appreciated/
