Hello,
I lead a AppleScripting department at a financial company and tracking
development and documenting scripts have become very important.
Thus a database tracking system will be created for this purpose.
We choose FileMaker Pro because of it's scriptability.
Some of the things the database will include.
Script Name/Info:
Creation Date, Version, Author, Requestor, Requested due date, Date
completed, Delay/Why, Group or persons using the Script.
Description:
Overview for management, step by step for users, and complete code and
comments for scripters.
Script Benefit:
What is the benefit of this script?
Errors:
What happened reproducible? and version fixed, Bug Fix Reporting.
Required Software:
Applications/Scripting Additions/OS version/AppleScript Version
Version History:
Detailed version history with explanation of change in script
Feature Request/Implementation:
Who requested/Who added the functionality
Project Preference holder:
If scripts have preference files track them to.
Servers Accessed:
List of all servers accessed in the course of running a script.
Performance/Metrics:
Who uses it, What does it do, Where does it run, How fast does it do it, How
much of it has it done month/quarter/year.
Of course other things.
My question is has anyone done anything like this and would like to offer
some advise/ideas?
Thanks,
Jason Bourque
