The creation date isn't in the file, so the file itself won't become
corrupt. (To paraphrase "Click and Clack" it's in the third half of the
file.)
Changing the dates, as Chris said, can lead to confusion in utilities which
use the dates...it would be dangerous in a synchronized folder situation
(where I would urge it not be done); and could be a problem for incremental
backups.
That applies to the modification date, as well...and perhaps more so. And
to "fixes" by Norton, et al.
