greetings,
i know next to nothing about AS, so i downloaded the QT5 scripts and i must
say in the few hours i've spent looking at them, i'm impressed and all the
more certain i can find a solution (and quite pleased w/ my limited success
just *guessing* proper syntax... gotta love that!).
basically i have a non-scriptable application which dumps a bunch of images
into a folder i can designate-- let's call it "output". the problem is i
want to create different directories for the respective subject matter, so
for example: "fruits", "vegetables", and "legumes". i've figured out that i
can create those directories using AS via filemakerpro (setting the
clipboard to a field name). very cool! now it appears from some of the QT
scripts i've seen tonight, i should (in theory) be able to 'move' the target
"output" folder into each of the aforementioned directories ("fruits,
veggies, legumes") and have my non-scriptable app point to an alias of
"output" (which i've verified can be done). that way the right images get
placed in the right directory.
the second part of the problem is i'd also like to be able to open one of
the images from every group and copy so that i can then import (paste) that
image back into my filemaker database... however it seems that
"pictureviewer" isn't scriptable? is this true?
so to summarize my idealized workflow:
1. (filemaker) type a name into a category field, i.e. "meats"
2. (filemaer) takes that field name and via AS creates a new folder "meats"
3. (AS) moves my "output" folder into "meats"
4. (non-scriptable app) export images to "output" alias
5. (AS) grab one of the new images and copy to clipboard
6. (filemaker) import image into field
i can do 1, 2, 4, & 6, but need help w/ 3 & 5 as outlined above; anybody
care to share some syntax or pointers w/ a newbie?
i have a feeling i'll look back in a few months and say "how did i ever get
along w/o applescript!". ;>
cheers.
