Yes, it exists, and is called Microsoft Entourage (part of Office, or on OS
9 still available in Special Edition with Word only).

In E, you can link files, tasks, mail messages, or contacts to calendar
events (or any one of them to any of the others). There is even a special
button in the mail message toolbar called "Flag for Follow-up" that sets a
flag on the message and automatically creates a task in your To Do list,
dated for tomorrow by default with the topic being "Follow-up to message: "
plus the subject, and opens it for further editing so you can change the
date, set alarms, add a note on what you want to do, etc.
