In this case no, because it can be implemented quite easily with TIDs

well, TIDs are an arcane rite of passage for every
AppleScripter, but i hope Apple didn't intend a
"tokenizer-detokenizer" to be an intuitive way to do basic
string manipulations.

The one thing I can't figure out how to do with TIDs is to break things
into words for processing but *remembering* what kind of whitespace
delimited them.

that's because TIDs aren't implemented such that they can
provide a full set of basic string manipulations. this is
probably an old argument so i'll shut up now.
