Well, an important reason. Lack of serious competition also played a fairly
big role.

You're ignoring the possibility that a future version of InDesign might also
clean up Quark in the area of scriptability. There's nothing like the
ability to do more with scripts to get people re-writing their old ones.

For all Quark's scripting prowess, it fails your "Just make *everything*
scriptable" test.
