Finder out of memory mystery...

tell app "Finder"

--do some stuff

move (every item in to_be_sorted whose name starts with first_four_chars) ,
to folder first_four_chars of sorted with replacing

--do some other stuff

end tell

This is pretty basic stuff, but I get a Finder out of memory error on the
"move" line if there are lots (hundreds or thousands) of files to look at or
move.

The mystery is this...

If I get the error and then immediately run the script again, it works!

I would like to know why this is.

Once I watched it and the Finder moved the files where they were supposed to
go and THEN errored on that line. This doesn't happen every time, but I
swear officer, I saw it happen once with my own eyes.

What is going on here?
