I'm relatively new to scripting and have only developed on my
PowerBook G3 with OS 9.1 and AppleScript 1.6. Now that I've got the
scripts, I need to do lots of processing of images and such and
needed a faster computer with a bigger hard drive. I just got the
PowerMac G4 867 which came with OS 9.2.1 (updated to 9.2.2 today) and
AppleScript 1.6.
The problem is my scripts don't seem to be working at all anymore.
I've had some major issues so far (including one where the Apple Tech
Support told me to do a reformat with zeroing all data). So today
I've got everything brand new and clean. Only installed Smile 1.8.4,
and really can't get things to work right. Scripts are a bit more
picky now (apparently I forgot a couple "as alias" references that
ran on my G3), and are crashing for no reason that I can figure.
Is there anything that is known about this? Shouldn't a script that
works in OS 9.1 work the same in OS 9.2.2 since I'm still using
AppleScript 1.6? Smile seems to be giving me serious issues (program
crashes, defaults to the intro worksheet even though I've deleted it,
doesn't recognize the desktop).
Could I maybe have a lemon computer? What am I doing wrong? Dang
computer is the coolest I've ever had, but seems to be giving me
problems all over... (Don't even get me started on my OS X experience
- see numerous posts to that discussion list)
As usual thanks for any and all help anyone might have. This is by
far the most helpful list I've ever been on.
