How come this doesn't work in OS 9.0.4?
Already answered.

Do I need a newer version of AppleScript?
Yes, but not because of the above. Applescript 1.4.3 (the version with 9.04)
has a serious problem with stay open applets (they don't). MacOS 9.1 with
Applescript 1.5.5 is, IMHO, the sweet spot of OS and AS stability/usefulness.
I tried to upgrade MacOS 9.2.1 on my G4 to 9.2.2 and it choked. Somehow I
didn't get Script Editor 1.7 out of the process, so I'm thinking the upgrade
was incomplete. I've tried re-upgrading several times and it still chokes, so
I think I have a corrupted system now. Bummer.
Plus, on the MacHTTP list someone said that AS 1.7 introduced a bunch of new
bugs (I'm about to ask which). Has anyone here heard anything?
