Is it always the *trailing* colon? Have you had the scripts open in Script
Editor?

I have noticed occasional trailing colon loss in alias specs. It seems to
happen either upon just opening the script, or upon compiling it.

[FWIW, I've seen this in Script Editor and (I think) Script Debugger under
Mac OS 9.1 (AS 1.6)]
