Oh, and not forgetting reference materials:
Very nice succinct description of AppleScript behavior, has.
Well, the biggie is the AppleScript Language Guide (which I think is
currently languishing around the AS 1.3.7 mark, though is still mostly
relevant to newer versions). Not sure what the current link to it is
(I'm
sure someone else will know).
The link is on Apple's AppleScript webpage, where he'll find much else
too.
For people coming from other a background in other programming
languages,
the O'Reilly's book "AppleScript in a Nutshell" is probably the best
Yes. The book is v. helpful in re-thinking other language syntaxes
relevant to AS. The "Scripting the OS X Desktop" section is a bit lean,
though. But def. worth the $30USD.
Thanks to - has - and the many other posts to my query, each was
accurate and v. helpful.
Thanks Again,

documentation as it is quite complete, "translates" AS terms to for
"other
language" types, and is almost up-to-date: AS 1.6 including OS 10.0.x.
BTW, windows don't collapse in OS X, at least not in the UI or regular
applescript. Apparently there's some utility out there that has managed
it
"under the Cocoa hood".
Here's a tutorial that I rather like:
http://www.mindspring.com/~i_automate/ It's got plenty good
information in
very simple, concise form.
I went to see what that might be, and found it dead.
