I don't know how to do it in AppleWorks, but I do a lot of similar
things in Smile, a feedbackware script and text editor that we make.

Otherwise, I would probably use TE+.

You cannot find any specific information about this in the AppleScript
Guide. The functionalities that you are requesting belong to applications,
and the terminology needed to "tell" to the apps to do this or that, is
what is called the "dictionary" of the application. Script editors know how
to display dictionaries.
