(horrible pun).
Of course you can solve the "property name" term in EightLister. A bit of
work with ResEdit, and you've done it.
I did that with the scriptable version of Excel which came out shortly
before AppleScript's "stealth' release. Apple "stole" the term text from
Excel (in that Excel version, the text of a cell was the as-formatted
content, but Apple released AppleScript with text meaning what it still
means today, and Microsoft's "text" was covered up). To get the
as-formatted text out of a cell, I hacked the Excel 'aete' to use a
different term.
I never circulated the result because
a. copyright
b. my choice of a replacement term was REALLY BAD...and item a caused me
to not care about item b, since it was only for me.
(By the way, I don't see either Apple or Microsoft as at fault...it was
just one of those things that happen when developers write code against
moving targets. It is a credit to the MS folks that that version of Excel
turned out as well--in scripting terms--as it did (this was before the
switch to Visual Basic in Excel)).
