weird problem with keys and OSAMenu

Hi all,
I occasionally (maybe 3 times out of 10) experience the following
problem when launching a script from OSAMenu, specifically using a key
combination.
When running a script like the following:
tell application "Finder"
open folder "Apple Menu Items" of folder "System Folder" of startup
disk
activate
end tell
I sometimes afterwards cannot use any key combinations in the Finder
(say, cmd-delete, cmd-w, cmd-n, etc.). Is this a problem with OSAMenu
or maybe something with my script? I don't see how it could be a
problem in such a simple script, but you never know.
Any suggestions?
