The other result of running the run-only version is that the Keychain
Scripting app launches but is left running when the script fails.
When running the script under all of the other conditions, Keychain
Scripting does its deed and quits (the desired and anticipated
behavior).

Did you save it as a compiled script or as an applet? It sounds to me
like you saved it as a script.

I've saved it in every format available. If it is saved as run-only, it doesn't work. All other formats perform as expected. Apparently, and even transparently, somewhere along the way, it appears that something is editing/attempting to edit/write back to the script. I thought maybe I could catch whatever this might be by logging the Apple events in Script Debugger, but nothing was revealed. <shrug>
