Choose a file dialog box?
Choose a file dialog box?

In the near future I'll be looking to write an AppleScript which'll ask a
user to select a file. How do I get an appropriate dialog box to show?
We have a FileMaker Pro database which tracks some job information.
Associated with these jobs are some images. Rather than force designers to
use a dictated naming convention for the images, we're looking to set up a
system which allows them to identify the job from within FileMaker Pro,
select an appropriate image on their desktop and then FileMaker
Pro/AppleScript will archive the image to a backend server.
Conceptually, I can think through most of the steps but I'm unclear as to
how I'll display a dialog box which allows the user to select the image file
on their machine. Can I do it in vanilla AppleScript or do I have to use an
OSAX? Or should FileMaker be helping here (possibly Troi's File plug-in but
$39.00 seems a lot to pay per user simply to get the name and path to a
file. This PI would be great if it could move files off one disc to another
but, according to the docs, it can only move files on the same disc).
TIA
