Another point of view
on the question before us
regarding solutions
to the e-mail corruption
of scripts posted here:
I read the list daily,
have subscribed (in digest form)
for over a year,
and often cut & paste examples
of posted code and comments into
a few categorized documents
(like "general AppleScript",
"AppleScripting printers",
AppleScripting Acrobat & images", etc.)
for possible later reference & aid.
The few and humble scripts I have written
are mostly built on these examples.
My understanding of AppleScript
and it's potential usefulness
to my situation has grown considerably
as a result of this list.
There may be many on this list
in similar situations.
I find the subject line alone
is often not enough to reveal
a learning opportunity,
so I browse everything
though there's A LOT
I can not yet understand.
(Sometimes I even see the warning
"watch the wrap"
and can't see it anyway.
I'm just don't
have AppleScripter eyes yet.)
But if I would have to
run a translation routine on
each example before browsing,
it may require more time
than I can spend presently.
If a small subscription fee for this
(perhaps many-member) list
were charged, could that provide
the resources needed
to improve some of it's technical qualities?
Though I have written few AppleScripts,
I have important workflow automation tasks
looming ahead of me,
and I'm hoping to utilize AppleScript.
(Which could in turn strengthen my position
as an advocate of Apple hardware
within my company.)
Just my 2 cents. Comments?
