I figured out how to get make a gestalt call and get the system's idle
time[*], but it's not clear to me what unit it returns:

(* needs the "IdleTime" system extension *)
tell application "Finder"
computer "idle"
--> some integer
end tell

What does this return? Could they be ticks? If so, how many ticks make up a
second?

TIA!

[*] Thanks to Bill Cheeseman's mentioning the possibility at
<http://www.applescriptsourcebook.com/events/1998.html>. But no thanks to
Bill for keeping the syntax secret - you might want to add that Bill ;)
