On 01/01/2001, John McElwain commented on "Problems scripting the
Finder with system 9.0.4":
I have a complicated AppleScript -- run from within FileMaker -- that
involves extensive scripting of the Finder. The script was working fine
prior to upgrading to 9.0.4 But now, when I run my script with 9.0.4, the
Finder begins timing out on simple tasks (checking aliases, making folders)
and the script runs significantly slower.
The script works fine with 9.0. Are there any solutions to this problem???
I am using a 400 MgHz iMac.
I can't say for sure that this will help, but it shouldn't hurt.
Since upgrading to 9.0.4, have you checked to make sure that you have
the latest version of AppleScript? According to my 9.0.4 system, you
should have something along the lines of:
AppleScript (Extensions folder) - 1.4.3
AppleScriptLib (Extensions folder) - 1.4
Script Editor 1.4.3
If you don't have these versions, you might want to run the Software
Update control panel, or visit
<
http://www.apple.com/applescript/update.html>, to obtain them.
