TITLE
Mac OS 9.1: Dialog Box Does Not Cancel on First Attempt

Article ID:

TOPIC

In some cases, a dialog box asking "Where is XYZ?" (where any unknown
application name may be substituted for XYZ) can only be dismissed after
canceling three to four times.

DISCUSSION

Symptom

AppleScript displays a dialog box asking you to locate an application. If
the application cannot be found and you click Cancel, the dialog box
returns.

Products affected

Mac OS 9.1

Solution

Click Cancel three to four times. The dialog box dismisses after multiple
cancellation attempts.

This occurs when a compiled AppleScript is opened with a reference to an
unknown application.

Apple may address this issue in a future software release.
