Whoa dude what a bring down. You're really bumming me out in a major way.
I didn't pick up on the "Apple is Better" inference, and I'm really not
too sure how skins improve sound quality! 8) I think SoundJam is the
best of the many such tools I tried when I ran through a bunch of them
looking for a simple tool to create mp3 files from some of my old 4-track
analog mixdowns. Most of them seem to be strictly for CD ripping and
don't provide a direct record-from-sound-in option. SoundJam does.
I like to fiddle with eq settings on my audio system but generally don't
need to tweak with a software eq... Maybe that's only because I crank
the Bose but keep the volume a tad lower on my Mac so that an unexpected
BEEP doesn't cause me to fill my shorts...
If someone isn't an mp3 freak the Apple version might be more than
adequate. People who want something more may choose to purchase SoundJam.
But I think you're comparing apples and oranges anyway. It was a nice
gesture for Apple to make a free player available for everyone. Ok?
