Newbie and AS 1.5

AS 1.5.5 seems to be a real nightmare.
My elementary scripts are (auto)modified and don't compile anymore. They use
to accomplish their daily tasks with no problem.
Commands as simple as "display dialog" are refused.

What is the cure ? Downgrade ?
Unbelievable Apple has let this out. :-(
Have I missed something. I hope so...
