Hello Thomas,

The MacOS 9 Keyboard control panel in combination with recent Macs can assign launch actions to a keyboard's function keys. If you have this feature it will be obvious when you open the Kybd CP, and you can assign AppleScript applets to each Fnkey.

9.1 has open up the feature to all Macs that will run it.

A 3rd party utility such as OneClick will do a much better, more flexible job for you.

OSA Menu OTOH is free and very stable in my experience.
