Oddly enough, I once read a book on the history of pi. As it turns
out, some guy once attempted to pursuade the state of Indiana that
he had found the *exact* value of pi. This guy then went on to tell
state legislaters that he would not be charging *royalties* to Indiana
citizens for the use of pi's *correct* value, so long as they gave him
credit. Fortunately, a visiting professor at the state capital was
able to prevent the politicians from legislating pi.
