A slightly weird tale whose implications I still don't understand.
I wrote a script app to back up the chapters of my wife's next novel onto
(alternatively) a backup disk or the Net, via Interarchy. It used Jon's
Commands (for the counting fingers - they're cool!).
I wrote the script on my work machine using OS Z-904, to put on the
Powerbook which also runs Z-904 and has Jon's Commands installed, in the
right place.
An earlier version of the script had a presentation bug (left a dialog in
the background, leading to that annoying flashing menu stuff). So I changed
it slightly, compiled it on my machine and put it (compiled) onto my wife's
machine.
I ran it once. (That was Tuesday.) After that the Powerbook would crash on
going to/waking up from sleep; needed a warm restart. Disk First Aid +
Diskwarrior couldn't find any probs.
Eventually I replaced the System file and Finder with versions
backed up (whew) in September. Now, though, the script app won't run: it
dies with "An error of -241 has occurred". If I take the chance to Edit, it
opens at the start of the script - where I declare some properties
(including a date; though if I define that property as "", which I've
allowed for as the first run of the script - it still crashes with -241).
So the script app seems to be the culprit. Ideas? Experiences?
