Problem with volumes mounted via AppleScript

  • Subject: Problem with volumes mounted via AppleScript

I have a script that users the "mount volume" command. It seems to work
fine. The volumes mount I can browse the files I can copy files to and from
the volume. Then I launch Portfolio and try to scan the volume and it says
"Volume not found". So I unmount all the volumes and re-mount them using the
chooser. Portfolio now says "Volume Found". So I unmount them and re-mount
them via the script. Portfolio says "Volume not Found". It seems like the
volume needs to be added to the "Available Volumes List?" on Mac OS.

My question is. How does the "mount volume" command in an apple script
differ from the manual mounting of a volume through the chooser and why
might an application treat the same volumes mounted with each method
differently?
