StartupDisk application in Control panel

I'm trying to use AppleScript to change the settings in the StartupDisk application, i'm wondering if there is a way, i need it because i'm writing an applet that will mount an image to a partition, then it will make that partition, the active partition in the StartupDisk, and right now i'm stuck in manipulating the StartupDisk applet, I tried recording the procedure, but it doesn't work, can you E-mail me back with some help, thankX.
