I finally got fed up with Script Editor. I had Smile (v. 1.71) sitting on
my computer so I decided to switch over. Wow! This has power! There are a
couple things that I used in Script Editor that are bugging me in Smile...
So I'm hoping some people could help me.
1- Paste as reference. I would copy a folder then paste a reference and the
path to the folder would be pasted in. Did this feature never get put into
Smile, or maybe there is a way to script it?
2- Poor AppleScript formatting. In script editor I would write, then check,
then write, then check. Each time I wrote Script Editor would display my
non-compiled code in the correct style. Smile just takes the most recently
used style. I have designed a script to change back to my non-compiled text
style but it is a pain. Did this get fixed in a newer version?
3- I can't find Smile's equivalent to Script Editors Event Log. I've tried
the 'Open Event Log' command but... It isn't doing what I want. It is
telling me what Smile is doing. I liked how Script Editor would go through
each line of code and tell you what it returned after it, and where the
error was. Smiles worksheet window just tells me what the end result of the
script was.
I really like Smile... But I don't want to be switching between the two
applications to use both of their features. And I haven't been able to
justify shelling out mucho dough for Script Debugger.
