Do you happen to have PGP 7.0 installed? That slows down Script Editor to a
crawl. (This is claimed to have been fixed in PGP 7.0.1). I can type 3
lines of code, hit Enter, hit Cmd-R, go get some coffee and by the time I'm
back it may be about to run the script.

Considering this, I wouldn't be surprised of some other utility that also
uses the menubar could cause similar problems with Script Editor. So I
would check for an extension conflict if I were you.

Not "all" ;) Under OS 9.0.4 with CarbonLib 1.2 I get the blinking menus.
Going back to CarbonLib 1.0.4 fixed this for me. (Note that, of course, it
is entirely possible that under OS 9.1 this is the other way around...)
