Script Editor crashes

Hello everyone,
Every time I use the script editor and I try to check syntax, record an
action, or simply save the script in the script editor, my mouse locks up,
and my machine crashes. I am running the most current applescript on OS 9.1
I haven't done the usual trouble shooter's yet, starting up with base
extensions and all, but I wanted to know if this was a common problem before
I waste my efforts.
