I do not know how to use it, since I'm a newbie,
but a quick look at File Maker Pro (vers. 3 !!) dictionary shows the
following:

Subset of the Core, Table, and Database suites: Subset of Events supported
by other Applications

begin transaction: Begin a transaction
begin transaction
Result: integer -- The transaction ID

end transaction: End a transaction
end transaction
