Difference in folder sizes on NT and Mac

  • Subject: Difference in folder sizes on NT and Mac

I have written a script that backs up mac folders to cd. It copies folders (by size) from an NT server (4.00.1381) to a disk-copy partition on my mac (os 8.5) and then burns that partition to a Mac/Iso cd (toast 3.5.7.)
The problem occurs when I try to estimate the amount of space that the folders residing on the server will take up when they are placed in a mac environment. Unfortunately it hasn't been a consistent difference in size, each folder has ranged from 5-20% larger on the mac.
Is there a formula I can use that will give me a predictable file size so I can maximize my cd usage?
thanks in advance,
Andrew
