1. After a re-install of OS 8.6, I'm running AS 1.1.3. I've downloaded
1.4.3. If I go ahead & install it, will I notice? Will my many scripts
(either quite basic or downloaded) keep on ticking? Any changes I should
watch for.
2. I'm now in the habit of calling applications via the Creator code, both
in AS and in OneClick. Why not have this code revealed in the "Get Info" box
as a standard feature?
3. A quote I've saved, but never implemented (which I could tell you who was
the source):
"You cannot actually alter the built in chime, but you can use an
applescript in the the shutdown items folder to mute the system, making the
chime silent. After that you put another script to set the volume how you
liked it in the startup items folder. Then put your sound (system 7 format)
in the startup items folder too (renamed alphabetically so it executes after
the volume script)
So effectively, you turn off the startup chime, and replace it with a sound
of your choice that plays when your desktop becomes active.
Not quite as sweet as hacking the OS boot rom, but alot more effective and
safe."
