It is because OSA Menu blocks the application it is run in when run in Fast mode. So, since you are invoking the script from the Finder, the Finder is therefore blocked until the script is finished, at which time the screen updates according to the actions you've performed. When running the script from another application, like iDo Script Scheduler and the Script Editor, you are not blocking the Finder and it can update as needed.
