Copying Quark text between documents with formatting

Is there an easy way to copy text between two Quark documents while
retaining all the formatting. I tried using "set text of story 1 to ...."
but the text doesn't keep the font, style, etc. of the original Quark
document that I pulled it out of.

Unable to find a sample of how to do it in another script, I butchered part
of a script for converting the contents of a text box to XPress tags that
saves it to a temporary file and then import that into the new text box.
