Limitations with Folder Actions

Hi List,

A general question about scripting methodology:

We are using a folder action that builds a quark document once a text file
is dumped into a folder. Everything has worked fine until yesterday evening.
I posted a question regarding box overflows which is unrelated, but has
been resolved. This morning, another component of this script has "broken"
for no apparent reason. Nothing has been changed, but suddenly the script
refuses size our photos as it has been doing for the past 2 months.

The interesting part: if I remove the 'on adding items to...' folder action
declaration and run the script manually with Debugger, it works perfectly!

What could be happening here? Is it advisable to stay away from Folder
actions whenever possible? Or perhaps use a folder action that simply runs a
script file and keep the folder action as lean as possible?

Some ideas on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Steve Kump
