I have a cool/fun idea and would love to know if I can pull it off with
Applescript.
I'd like to turn MacMAME into a screensaver of sorts.
MacMAME is an arcade game emulator where you can play thousands of old
arcade games like Centipede, Dig Dug, Pac Man, Tempest, etc. etc....
I'd like to try to figure out how to write a script that will:
Wait for the computer to be inactive for a set ammount of time.
Launch MacMAME
Pick a game at random from the list of ROMs
Launch the game in full screen mode.
Enter "OK" at the prompts, and letting the game "run" in attract mode
(before you put in the quarter).
After a set time (x minutes), switch to another ROM, type OK, etc.
Quit itself when the user gets back (optional, but clean)
I've written to the makers of MacMAME to see if it is scriptable, but never
got a reply.
Running the script recorder only launched the program (not scriptable?).
This project is one of my main motivations to learning AppleScript.
Hopefully it's possible.
