If you're going to clean-up several text files, then you should try
downloading "Tex-Edit Plus" or "Style".

Both are simple-powerful-scriptable-recordable (like Finder) text editors.

They acomplishes hundreds of script examples.
It's syntax is so easy and... You can record.
