AS getting slower why?

Hi all

I don't know what is happened, may be someone had similar experience:

I write a script extracting text from a QuarkXpress doc to FileMaker.

I run the script on a (very) old Mac (8150/110, server machine, 64 RAM)
System 8.6
The script needs about 4,5 minutes to run.

I run the script on the Mac in my office (8500/180, with G3 card 400
Mhz, 208 RAM) System 8.6
The script needs about 2,9 minutes to run.

I run the script on my new(!) ibook (G3, 400 Mhz, 354 RAM) System 9.1
The script needs over 6 minutes to run!!!!!! This makes no sense.

The iBook is really fast running both FM und QX (faster than my mac in
the office) the machine is ok.
Is it possible that my script (written on system 8.6) should be
re-written or simply saved with the new version of AppleScript under Sys
9.1?
The only osax needed from system 9.1 was Jon's command (becouse of
command TheTicks) and I put in the scripting additons folder a very old
version of it (from 1994). May be is this the problem?

Thanks in advance and greetings from cold but wonderful Hamburg :)

Alberto
