Wes,

Check for conflicts with system extensions that affect font display (like SmoothType), scroll bar behavior (like SmartScroll), and menuing (like FinderPop). I've used many of these at one time or another, (and am NOT trying to malign the authors here - I have registered and continue to use a couple of them), but I have found that Word 98 in particular has problems with these types of utilities (particularly with earlier versions), so make sure you have the latest revisions if you use them. Hope this helps.

Rick

I have three machines (an iMac, an iBook, and a G4 Tower) that I do a
majority of my scripting on. All are running OS 9 or OS 9.1. All have
problems with MS Word and MS Outlook (and to a lesser extent, Excel)
frequently crashing when I pull down any menu from the menu bar.

I thought it was a conflict with QuicKeys, but I don't have QuicKeys on the
iMac. I'm thinking now that its one of my OSAXEN playing havoc with my
Microsoft products. (Or maybe my MS products are just intimidated by
superior technology.)

Has anyone seen this phenomenon?

wes
