Ping from Applescript with no app?

  • Subject: Ping from Applescript with no app?

Check to see if a server is up and running on a certain IP and Port. For
Example could I check to see if fmp://someip/somefile was up before i tried
to access it. I would also like to ping an AFP fileServer as well. Can this
be done? Perhaps with a scripting addition?

Thanks,

Graham Sprague
