The script you refer to here is the one that ships with FileMaker Pro
itself. It looks like its been coded with clarity in mind rather than
speed...

...OK, having spent longer than I should have playing around with this, it's
still dog slow. For some reason I cannot set the data of a layout (which is
usually far quicker than setting individual cells) when that data contains a
file reference (file "Path:Name"). Maybe someone else could chime in here?

Anyway, I've sent the script as an attachment directly to you.
