Why does it work when run in editor, but not once it's saved as an app?
The short answer is that the default memory allocation for script
applications is insufficient.
Get Info (in the Finder) on your applet and increase its 'minimum' &
'preferred' memory allocations to a megabyte or more, depending on your
machine's available memory.
It is possible to put your own 'size' resource into a scipt application
using ResEdit, but the Script Editor resets it if you subsequently
resave, so it needs to be done last thing.
Cheers,
Richard Morton
