CompileIt! (made by legendary Hacker, Tom "Tiny BASIC" Pittman) is
the great compiler that makes very tight and reliable code. But it
makes only 68K code resource. So I have to write codes in C/C++ from
scratch for
Tanaka's osax PPC native, and I haven't enough time for mastering C/C++
development using CodeWarrior. That's why my osax is not PPC native.
Motoyuki:
Your osax is very effective without being PPC native. The main issue
is whether you are going to be making an OSX version. This would
also require migration to a different programming environment (such
as C++). It looks as if you have therefore decided not to upgrade.
Is this true? What do you recommend for someone with scripts that
depend upon Tanaka and who want to eventually move to OSX?
You recently made the following comment:
I've been learning MacOS X since Public Beta was released (I'm reading
"Learnig Cocoa" now). I think OS X is very exciting OS, but I wonder
about value of AppleScript (AppleEvent) on MacOS X (besides current
imperfect implementation). For now, I'll learn and search OS X. If
I get the conviction that porting my osax into OS X is not
meaningless, I'll do my best.
Can you explain this further.... why you think Applescript for OS X
might be meaningless. Of the 20 most popular scripting additions,
NONE have made the transition yet, to my knowledge. Perhaps other
developers feel as you do.
