I had the idea to do exactly that about a year and a half ago. I had the idea
again about two months ago. I'm still looking for the time to do it.

Wait!

Here's an idea...

Let's make it a group project. We need one super programming guru to map the
thing out and coordinate the project. Then he/she can divide the handlers
among those interested. We'd make sure to use no globals, all handlers would
be self contained so that when assigned a particular function to create, we
would know what will be passed into it and what needs to be returned out of
it. This way we could really divide up the work. As a group project, we could
also optimize any code as necessary.

It could be a great learning experience for many and we'd have an awsome tool
to show for it! Whaddaya think?
