Just to continue the discussion, in the energy saver control panel under advanced settings is a check box that says wake when the modem detects a ring. If you check that then you can wake the computer by dialing in. Next step. How do you automate a phone signal from the other end? Simple. Use either Appleworks or Clarisworks communication document to dial the phone number.
here's the problem. If you have two computers using a dialup modem configuration rather than an ethernet connection you have to switch the TCP/IP configuations to allow for high speed transfer rates.
Logically you would have to write a script that restarts one or both computers after the "Wakeup Call". On restart you change the location of the location manager from a TCP/IP modem configuration to an ethernet or high speed configuration. After the job is run you have to restart one or both computers to set the location manger to dialup modem.
