Having lurked a few days, its time to throw out the problem. I have worked on it a long time and
have had numerous suggestions from several others on other lists, but still have nothing working properly.
I need the following:
From machine "A" upload a folder from the desktop.
At machine "B" in a different city, download that folder to its desktop.
At machine "B" process the files in the folder. They are fully text.
note the original files are created from a Hypercard stack and the downloaded folder will pick up
the contents of the folder and process each file to make a new record (card). These activities are
no problem. I wanted to do it all with Hypertalk, but it just isn't getting there, so, using
Applescript machine "A" can call an application (AScript) to to the upload.
at machine "B" Hypercard can call its download application from an AScript folder download
application and HC can then process it, of course.
The mythical ISP would be 'gizmo.net'
The mythical username would be username
The mythical password would be password
The mythical folder would be Webtransfers
I tried some of the nice URL Access items AScript has changed, and these machines are imacs running
9.1. Have some of the first AScript books, got some new ones, but it now has lots of added and new
stuff and I'm not learning it very fast due to several factors. Anyway:
Any help would be appreciated. By the way, if this gets going, anyone submitting ideas (as have
some others elsewhere) will get a mention. If we get this thing going the way it should, I do intend
to make the concept available to many people who need it (and don't realize it) and make it
available in some other paradigms.
Cheers and gramercy.
Note: if you don't want it to show on the list, email me directly, please.
